Flora Tissues protects the health and dignity of hundreds of disabled, sick and injured street dogs

From June 2024, we have been donating close to 20KG Multifold Tissues and Toilet Paper Rolls on a monthly basis to Animal SOS Sri Lanka to help them with their hygiene needs. Led by our Quality Assurance Team, this initiative not only demonstrates our contribution to the wellbeing of our society and our Sri Lanka’s beautiful creatures, but it also emphasizes our efforts as a company to be sustainable and climate neutral. 

Around 3 million street animals in Sri Lanka, many of whom suffer tremendously because of diseases, injuries, malnutrition and human cruelty. Most of these animals do not have access to veterinary care, nutrition or a safe place to sleep. 

Animal SOS Sri Lanka is a non-profit UK registered charity whose mission is to alleviate the suffering of street animals (mainly dogs and cats) in Sri Lanka by providing life-saving veterinary care, rehabilitation, homing and refuge. It is a unique organization, as it is the only one that offers veterinary care at such a large capacity to Sri Lankan street animals. 

Currently, Animal SOS cares for around 2500 dogs, including disabled dogs, and over 100 cats. Every day, they take in and treat animals that have been purposely abused, carelessly driven over and left to die and abandoned. 

There are two veterinary clinics inside Animal SOS and large areas for their 500+ disabled dogs to live in. These areas need to be kept clean consistently to avoid infection and contamination and to provide a comfortable and dignified living environment for disabled dogs to live out the rest of their lives.

This is where our tissues play a vital role. Our contribution to Animal SOS’s lifesaving work is best described by their own Chief Marketing Officer, Amal Pathirana:
